Location: Central Office, Dudley, West Midlands
Salary: £24,752 – £27,339
Hours: 37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year (negotiable for the right candidate)

Role of the Central Finance Officer

As a Central Finance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the Trust’s Central Finance Team. You will be responsible for processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with financial procedures. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will also be a key contact for finance-related queries and assist with reconciliations, reporting, and audits.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for finance queries across the Trust.
  • Manage the finance email inbox and oversee purchase ledger activities.
  • Process invoices, match them to purchase orders, and ensure correct financial coding.
  • Prepare BACS payments and maintain supplier account details.
  • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, prepayments, accruals, and year-end accounts.
  • Contribute to internal and external audit processes.
  • Process financial transactions, including journals, credit card expenses, and bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with issuing sales invoices and managing aged debtors.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths & English – Grade 4 or above (essential).
  • AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting (Level 2).

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of finance systems and purchase ledger processes.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Teams.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a finance or accounts role.
  • Experience with finance systems such as Hoge 100 / Access Dimensions (desirable).
  • Previous experience in the education sector (desirable).
