Hours: 30 hours per week, term time only

Salary: £12.25 per hour (+ pro rata benefits in terms of leave entitlement, sick pay, pension contributions)

West Smethwick Enterprise is looking to recruit a passionate and dedicated Pre-School Practitioner to join our team across our settings in Smethwick and Ladywood.

Our organisation operates four nursery and pre-school settings, all rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, and provides a range of services that support families and communities beyond early years education.

About the Role

As a Pre-School Practitioner, you will work as part of the team under the guidance of the Setting Manager and Room Leader/Deputy Manager to provide high-quality care and education for children.

You will support children’s learning, development and wellbeing, carry out observations and planning for key children, and work closely with parents and other professionals to ensure every child’s individual needs are met.

Working hours are 8:30am – 3:00pm, term time only.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, high-quality care and education for children in the setting
  • Support children’s learning and development through play-based activities
  • Carry out observations, assessments and planning for key children
  • Create a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment where children can learn and grow
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers and external agencies
  • Support students and volunteers within the setting and model good practice
  • Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and Ofsted standards are followed at all times
  • Promote positive relationships between children, staff and families

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is passionate about early years education and enjoys working as part of a supportive team.

You will ideally have:

  • Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children and families
  • flexible approach, as you may work across different settings when required
