School Office Manager
Location: Halesowen Salary: £25,545 – £31,317 per annum Hours: 37 hours per week | 40 weeks per year | Permanent
Role
A primary school in Halesowen is seeking an experienced and highly organised Office Manager to provide comprehensive administrative leadership across the school. Working with a high level of autonomy, you will take responsibility for the effective delivery of all administrative functions and support senior leaders in the day-to-day running of the school.
This role includes significant responsibility for decision-making within the administration function, line management of the office team, and line management of the site team, including the Site Manager and cleaners.
Responsibilities
• Lead and manage all school administrative functions, ensuring the office operates efficiently as a central point of contact
• Line manage and support office staff and the site team, including training and development
• Oversee pupil administration, including admissions, attendance, transfers and registration systems
• Manage parental communications and oversee the school’s main communication platforms
• Produce complex correspondence and documentation on behalf of the Headteacher and leadership team
• Act as lead officer for marketing the school, including the prospectus and school website
• Handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and professionalism
• Oversee school lettings procedures and liaise with external auditors, suppliers and customers
• Manage day-to-day financial administration, including income, expenditure approvals and liaison with the Multi Academy Trust
• Support recruitment and HR administration, including safer recruitment checks and maintenance of the Single Central Record
• Ensure personnel records, staff CPD and induction processes are maintained accurately
• Oversee health and safety compliance in line with Trust policies, including risk assessments, statutory checks and site standards
• Work closely with the Headteacher, Site Manager and central Trust teams to ensure statutory and operational compliance
Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
• Substantial experience working in a business, school or local authority environment at a supervisory or middle management level
• Experience of managing staff and leading administrative functions
• Strong IT skills with the ability to use a wide range of ICT systems and packages
• Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
• The ability to interpret guidance and apply policy and procedures effectively
• Strong organisational, communication and decision-making skills
• The ability to work confidently with children, staff, parents and external agencies
• A clear understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding, equality and data protection
• A relevant qualification at NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, or significant relevant experience
• A willingness to undertake further training and professional development
